Important Update: Policy on Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Manuscript Preparation
Biomedpress is committed to upholding the highest standards of research integrity and publishing ethics. To address the evolving use of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) tools, we have updated our policies. All authors submitting manuscripts to any Biomedpress journal must adhere to the following requirements regarding the use of AI tools (such as ChatGPT and other large language models - LLMs):
- Mandatory Declaration: Authors must declare the use of any AIGC tools in the development of any portion of their manuscript. This declaration must be placed within the Methods section of the manuscript.
- Permitted Use & Restrictions:
+ The use of AI to generate significant portions of the manuscript content (e.g., results, discussion, conclusions) is strongly discouraged.
+ AI-generated content is only permissible if it forms part of the formal research design or methods.
+ Any use of AI-generated content must include a clear description of: (1) The specific content that was AI-generated; (2) The name of the AI model or tool used (e.g., ChatGPT-4, Gemini 1.5, Claude 3 Opus).
+ AI Cannot Be an Author: AIGC tools cannot fulfill the role of an author under any circumstances and must not be listed as an author on the manuscript.
+ Review Full Policy: Authors are required to read Biomedpress's comprehensive AI policy, detailed in our Best Practices Guidelines on Research Integrity and Publishing Ethics.
+ Submission Confirmation: Upon submission, authors are required to confirm that their manuscript adheres to this AI policy.
- Action Required for Authors:
+ Review the full AI policy in the Best Practices Guidelines.
+ If any AIGC tools were used during manuscript preparation, ensure a declaration is included in the Methods section, detailing the content generated and the tool used.
+ Never list an AI tool as an author.
+ Confirm adherence to this policy during the manuscript submission process.
These requirements are essential for maintaining transparency, accountability, and trust in the scientific record. Failure to comply may result in delays to the review process or manuscript rejection.
We thank you for your cooperation in upholding the integrity of research published in Biomedpress journals.
